Eid-ul-Fitr: A Day of Celebration

Eid ul Fitr

Just like a marathon runner or a writer marks the successful completion of their goal with a celebration, Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated as the successful completion of fasting during the month of Ramadan. This is the month in which Muslims perform different spiritual, mental, social, and physical exercises for self-development and for a better world.

A general practice of Eid-ul-Fitr celebration is wearing new clothes and gathering in the mosque or a large place to offer special Prayers in congregation. After prayers family and friends hold gatherings, where they share special dishes.

The true celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr is to love and thank God for strength and ability of self-development during Ramadan. God states in the Holy Quran, “...celebrate the praises of God as you celebrated the praises of your fathers, or even more than that…” ( 2:201).

The head of worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said, “If we can establish this level of love, then we can say that we are celebrating Eid in the true sense. We must analyze ourselves and see if we are ready to strive in achieving this” (Eid-ul-Fitr Sermon on 14 May 2021).
