Aces Reach Playoffs — The Alexandria Aces concluded their regular season Monday evening with a 6-1 win over the Bethesda Big Train, securing a first-round bye in the Cal Ripken Collegiate League. The Aces finished with a 27-17 record. The club, which plays at Frank Mann Field, awaits word on its opponent and scheduled time of its first playoff game on Wednesday. Cheesecake Day — Tuesday is National Cheesecake Day (Who knew?). If you’re looking to celebrate, Evening Star Café (2000 Mount Vernon Ave.) offers a red velvet cheesecake dessert for $6, while Cheesetique (2411 Mount Vernon Ave.) offers a slice of homemade cheesecake for $7.   

Trivia night — Fireflies Restaurant (located at 1501 Mount Vernon Ave.) hosts its trivia night beginning at 8 p.m. Reservations are recommended and can be placed by calling 703-748-7200.

Swing by the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage — It offers free performances 365 days a year. At 6 p.m. Tuesday, catch the New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra. The group brings together musicians of different ages and abilities to promote mutual growth and understanding through musical performance.

The butler did it, and the reporter wrote it — Listen to the story of Eugene Allen who worked as a White House butler for 34 years as told by reporter Wil Haygood in his book “The Butler: A Witness to History.” Haygood will discuss his book at Politics and Prose, 5015 Connecticut Ave., NW in Washington. Beer and wine available. 7 p.m.
