Alexandria Pet Of The Week: Extended Stay Shelter Pup Needs Home

Patch regularly features adoptable pets from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, which runs the city's animal shelter and provides other animal services. One of the adoptable pets is Colby, a dog who has been at the animal shelter since March. Colby can offer you his playful puppy energy and would do well in a home with another dog.

Colby is a 1-year-old male dog who has - sadly - been with us since March. Not only does he have a great, loving personality, his unique wiry fur gives him a unique look. Given his age, he is still very much a puppy, so he's active and playful. He loves playing with toys and will chase them around the yard for as long as you're willing to throw them. He has some work to do on his leash manners, but he works for treats! He knows how to sit and will take treats gently. Colby has had a few play sessions with other dogs here at the shelter, so if you have another energetic pup looking for a friend, Colby could be your guy! We really think he'd thrive with another playful dog to wear him out, but also show him the ropes. We also discovered Colby really likes to splash and "dig" in the kiddie pool.
