Alexandria Pet Of The Week: Oscar The Gentle Giant
This Oscar isn't a grouch. The 7-year-old dog has a gentle nature and enjoys the simple pleasures of life at home.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — At Alexandria's animal shelter, pets are setting their New Year's resolutions to find a forever home.
Patch regularly features adoptable pets from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, which runs the city's animal shelter and provides services to pet owners. One of the available pets is Oscar, who could best be described as a gentle giant. This dog has a relaxed nature and stays calm even when out walking.
Oscar is a 7-year-old gentle giant who weighs in at 109 pounds. This big boy is a sweet and easygoing guy who would love a home to lounge around in. All of our volunteers and staff report that he is a breeze to walk. He ignores other people, bicyclists and dogs. He just moseys on his way without a care in the world! He is also very good at letting staff know when he needs to go outside to potty. He does his absolute best to not make a mess in his kennel. It doesn't take a whole lot to make Oscar happy - he'd love a comfy bed, some tasty treats, and a little walk here and there. While Oscar doesn't seem to mind other dogs around while he's out on walks, we do think he needs to be the only dog in the home. If you're interested in meeting Oscar, email adoptions@alexandriaanimals.org or call 703-746-4774, option 2.
