Alexandria Pet Of The Week: A Shy, Then Sociable Dog

ALEXANDRIA, VA — As the new year begins, pets from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria's animal shelter would love to be in a new home.

Patch regularly features adoptable pets from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria to help them find homes. One of the adoptable pets is May, a dog who is shy at first but will be very social and goofy when he warms up to you.

May is a 3-year-old, 50 pound male dog looking for an adventure buddy! May is a tad shy at first, but it doesn't take much for him to get comfortable around new people. A few ear scratches and some nice words and May's your best friend. He loves to play with toys and will nudge your legs with his stuffie when he's ready for a game. While he does enjoy keep-away, sometimes you can convince him to play a game of tug-of-war, too. May is a social guy with a little bit of goofiness. May does pretty well on a leash, but could use some additional training. Our team has worked with May on his manners and he's learned a lot, including clicker training. May is a big ol' teddy bear of a dog! He'd love to find a home for the New Year and beyond! Maybe that's with you?
