Animal Control Report: Fake Crow Causes Confusion

Animal Control officers in Alexandria deal with a variety of calls every week. Here's a glance at some recent incidents in the city courtesy of Patrick Cole, the director of communications and outreach at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.
Crow in the closet — A report of a bird trapped in a closet in the West End turned out to be nothing more than a decoration.
On May 14, an Animal Control officer responded to a call of a trapped bird in the 4500 block of Strufield Lane. Upon arriving at the residence, the officer was shown the interior hallway closet where a resident discovered a bird.

The officer opened the closet doors and discovered a decorative crow that was slightly smaller than a real crow.
The officer removed the decoration and showed it to the resident, who reportedly suspected a roommate must have left the fake bird in the closet.

Bow Wow Luau — On Thursday, May 23, the Canine Wingman Company will host the Bow Wow Luau to benefit the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.
The Bow Wow Luau will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hotel Monaco Alexandria, located at 480 King St. Dogs are welcome and admission is free. Dogs and humans are encouraged to dress for the occasion and prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed attendees.
