Art On The Avenue Planned For 27th Year In Del Ray Neighborhood
The annual Art on the Avenue, one of Del Ray's largest events, will feature hundreds of vendors, four musical stages, food and more.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Art on the Avenue, one of Del Ray's largest events of the year, will be held for a 27th year on Saturday, Nov. 12. The festival along Mount Vernon Avenue from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. will feature over 300 vendors, four musical stages,
Event organizers expect between 50,000 and 75,000 visitors at the event. Vendors include various types of artists, from jewelers and silversmiths to woodworkers, pottery makers, painters, sculptors, fabric artists and more. A list of participating artists is available online.

Four entertainment stages will provide live music for attendees. The City Stage will be held at Mount Vernon and Oxford Avenues, the Americana Stage will be at 1900 Mount Vernon Avenue, the Colonel Arnald D. Gabriel Concert Band Stage will be at the Mount Vernon Community School basketball court, and Future Stars will perform at the Nest Academy parking lot, 2609 Mount Vernon Avenue.

One tradition that happens on the City Stage is a ribbon cutting for Del Ray businesses that opened within the last year. The ribbon cutting and remarks will be briefly held at 2 p.m.

Food vendors will be on site to feed Art on the Avenue attendees. Del Ray restaurants participating in the event include Cheesetique, Del Ray Pizzeria, Evening Star Cafe, Pork Barrel BBQ, Spice Kraft Indian Bistro, St. Elmo's Coffee Pub, The Dairy Godmother, Taqueria Poblano and Kaizen Tavern. Food court vendors will include A.M. Kettle, Hard Times Cafe, Kiwi Kuisine, Rocklands Barbeque, Sherri's Crab Cakes, Suya To Go, Two Smooth Dudes, Tyson's Creamery, Uncle Kebba's Lemonade, The Welle Made Company, and Paella To Go. Food vendors with products for sale will include Apothecary Spices, Betty Jane's Sweet Delights, Brantview Farms Maple, Otis Farms, Orient Bowl, Po River Apiary, Together We Bake, Boso Foods, and Bradshaw Sauce Company.
Other entertainment planned for Art on the Avenue includes a pie baking contest and children's activities. The Pam’s Pies On the Avenue Pie Baking Contest will be held in memory of Pam Fitzgerald, a volunteer at Del Ray events who died from breast cancer in 2019. Bakers 18 and older are invited to enter their pies for judging. Pies will be judged based on the taste and texture of the filling and crust as well as the creativity of the pie name and appearance.
The Kids Korner provides free art projects for children at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center grass field. Children's activities at Kids Korner will include scarecrow stuffing, pumpkin painting spider creations, a musical petting zoo, origami paper and paint art, a tin foil boat challenge, tae kwon do demonstrations, theater fun, tissue paper stained art, STEM art and robotics demonstrations and more.
