All Clear Given For Alexandria City High School King Street Campus

ALEXANDRIA, VA — No signs of an explosive device have been found, said Alexandria Police as the department investigates a bomb threat at Alexandria City High School's King Street campus that led to the evacuation of all students, authorities said.

About 2:20 p.m. Monday, Alexandria Police officers, with help from Arlington County Police, cleared the ACHS King Street building. There is no threat to the public. No threatening materials were located and there is no threat to the public, police said via social media.

Families of students were told that about noon Monday, students and staff at the Alexandria City High School King Street campus were evacuated after a bomb threat was received by Alexandria City Public Schools. The Alexandria Police Department worked with school district administration, leaders and the school district Office of Safety and Security Services.

Students were evacuated from the King Street Campus to sites outside, said Alexander Duncan III, executive principal of the Alexandria City High School King Street Campus. As students re-enter the building, there will be a modified schedule for the rest of the school day, the district said. Classes will reconvene and students will be served lunch, per the modified schedule.

"We ask families to please not come to the ACHS campuses at this time," the school message said. "The safety and security of our students and staff are of utmost priority. We will continue to communicate with any additional information and will update the ACHS website."
