Car Drives on Alexandria Bike Trail During Rush Hour

Watch video here posted to YouTube showing the car driving down Four Mile Run Trail in Alexandria. The path is for pedestrians and cyclists.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Video shot by a bicyclist and posted to YouTube this week shows a driver in a car bypassing traffic during rush hour by jumping onto the Four Mile Run Trail, forcing pedestrians and bicyclists to get out of the way. It's unclear whether the car intentionally drove onto the path or was trying to avoid traffic.

Bicyclist Trey Harris, trey197, who posted the video on YouTube and Facebook, noted: "Not looking to shame the driver. Cars on the trail have been previously reported to the city. Would like Alexandria to at least address the inadequate signage at the trail entrance."

The 6.2-mile long Four Mile Run Trail traverses the Four Mile Run stream valley and usually is home to runners, cyclists, dog walkers and runners. It connects to the Mount Vernon Trail and the W&OD Trail.
