Cue the mariachi band—Cinco de Mayo is almost here.
The celebration of Mexican heritage this Sunday, May 5, is sometimes mistaken for Mexico’s Independence Day. However, Cinco de Mayo actually commemorates the Battle of Puebla, a turning point in Mexican history and freedom.
In the United States, it is celebrated by observing Mexican culture through food, drinks and dancing.

The margarita has come to be a requisite drink for people in the U.S. celebrating Cinco de Mayo—or any day or anything, really.
Jeff Wallingford of Taqueria el Poblano shows us how he makes his favorite margarita.

His recipe includes tequila, triple sec and his fresh-squeezed proprietary blend margarita mix shaken with ice into a salt-rimmed glass. The finished product is garnished with a lime.
