The movie extends the plot of Dr. Seuss’ 1971 children’s book, a cautionary tale about a boy’s visit with a hermit called the Once-ler, whose greed and carelessness led to the destruction of a once-thriving Truffula forest. The downing of trees prompted the emergence of The Lorax, a small orange creature who speaks for the trees and cautions the Once-ler about his actions.
The film features the voice talents of Zac Efron, Danny DeVito, Ed Helms, Taylor Swift and Betty White.
“This tale is filled with delightful characters and it's sugarcoated with vibrant animation and candy colors,” said film critic Richard Roeper.
The PG-rated film runs 86 minutes. “The Lorax” raked in more than $348 million at the box office.
