Del Ray Holiday Decorating Contest Nominees Announced For 2023

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Nominees have been announced for the Del Ray Citizens Association's 2023 Del Ray Holiday Decorating Contest, which recognizes the best home and business displays.

The contest accepted nominations of displays from Dec. 3 to 17. Voting for the contest will take place from Dec. 18 to 25. Winners will be announced on Dec. 27.

Award categories include Best Home Decorations, the Clark W. Griswold Holiday Lights Award "for most outstanding demonstration of brilliance, exuberance, and tackiness," People's Choice Award, and Best Holiday Postcard.

The public can vote for the People's Choice Award for best decorated home and best painted holiday postcard. The rest of the contest's prizes will be decided by judges. This year's judges are Del Ray resident Elisa Nebolsine, who will judge the Clark W. Griswold Holiday Lights Award category; Washingtonian editor and Del Ray resident Andrew Beaujon, and retired Alexandria Sheriff Dana Lawhorne.

Residents are encouraged to visit holiday displays before voting for their favorite. During your tour, check out the Del Ray Christmas Tree and Menorah at Pat Miller Neighborhood Square (Mount Vernon and Oxford Avenues) and join the Del Ray Holiday Scavenger Hunt at painted windows along Mount Vernon Avenue.
