Del Ray Optometry Store Sustains Damage in Last Week's 3-Alarm Restaurant Fire

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Eye2eye Optometry Corner in Del Ray suffered severe smoke and particle damage in the three-alarm fire at Al's Steakhouse last Wednesday, the owner said Wednesday. The business, located at 1502 Mount Vernon Ave., next door to the restaurant, has remained closed since last Wednesday while undergoing a full restoration.

The office will remain closed, exception for prescription pick-ups, this week and is hoping to reopen next week.

Eye2eye's staff has put in volunteer hours to help clean up the business and they have taken unpaid time off to help ease the financial burden, according to a spokeswoman for the company. The business's owners and employees are grateful for the local residents who have stopped in to show their support and ask about the restoration progress.

Eye2eye is looking forward to getting their doors open again soon. “Serving a customer base rooted in my community was and still is, a huge priority for me," said owner Dr. Dora Adamopoulos, OD.
