Evening Star Offering Weekly CSA Boxes for Purchase Starting This Week

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Beginning this month, the Evening Star restaurant in Del Ray will expand upon their farm-to-table offerings and provide an opportunity to get fresh, local produce for area residents' own tables from their friends at Northern Neck Farms.

Each week for the next 20 weeks, the family-owned farm will put together boxes filled with six to eight seasonal produce items. To make the process easy, customers can make their purchase online and pick it up at Evening Star on Thursday evenings.

A "CSA happy hour" will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursdays at the No. 9 Lounge (upstairs from the Star). Chef Keith Cabot will serve some seasonal snacks inspired by the week's bounty along with a specialty cocktail, beer or wine (available at special pricing). Patrons are encouraged to enjoy the opportunity to catch up with neighbors, swap recipes and unwind before heading home to enjoy your produce purchase.

This is an opportunity to get farm-fresh produce from the Kinsale, Va., farm the restaurant uses for its menu. Right now, Northern Neck is offering Farm Share boxes with tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peppers, corn, carrots, herbs, fruits and more.

You can place your orders now for the first pick-up on Thursday.

2. Select the weekly box option that allows for pick-up at Evening Star *order deadline is Tuesday each week
3. Come to the No 9 Lounge on Thursday between 5-7 p.m., enjoy a bite and take home your week's worth of seasonal produce
4. Make your order for next week.
