Fatal Shooting in Alexandria, Victim Identified: Police

It's likely the shooter fled the area following the shooting, according to Alexandria Police.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A man has died after a shooting in Alexandria on Wednesday, according to city police.

The victim has been identified as Pierre Clark, 28, of no fixed address.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 1000 block of Montgomery Street on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.

Police responded to the 1000 block of Montgomery Street at 12:35 p.m. The area is along Route 1 north of Old Town.

The victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the upper body. He was pronounced dead a short time later at Inova Alexandria Hospital.

Investigators believe the shooter fled the area.

All schools and the central office were placed on "lock-in" status while police worked in the area.

This is the third homicide in Alexandria this year.
