Three-Alarm Fire Reported at Al's Steak House
The longtime family restaurant had just reopened Wednesday.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- The Alexandria Fire Department has just controlled a three-alarm fire at Al's Steak House (1504 Mt. Vernon Ave., according to City spokesman Craig Fifer.

Fire and police units will remain on site for some time Wednesday afternoon to complete fire operations and traffic control. Mt. Vernon Avenue is closed in both directions between E. Alexandria Avenue and Monroe Avenue.
The neighborhood institution had quietly reopened its doors in Del Ray Wednesday. The restaurant, located at 1504 Mt. Vernon Ave. (see map below), closed in January.
