First Thursday: Dog Days of Summer

Third time was in fact the charm for the Del Ray Business Association’s June First Thursday street festival.

Following two consecutive rainouts, Thursday evening’s festivities got underway with clear skies and pleasant temperatures. 

The theme was Dog Days of Summer and canine-related activities and adoptable pets scattered Mount Vernon Avenue. The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria was the event's featured nonprofit.

Here’s the schedule for the remainder of this summer’s First Thursday festivals:

• July 11 (the second Thursday as not to conflict with July 4) — Main Street Celebration
• Aug. 1 — Did You Know? Highlighting some of the lesser-known businesses in Del Ray.
• Sept. 5 — Lights, Camera, Action!
