Flood Watch Issued In VA, DC One Day After Flash Flooding
After some areas saw flash flooding Monday, the National Weather Service says there's another threat from heavy rainfall Tuesday.

VIRGINIA — Some areas were hit with flash flooding during severe thunderstorms Monday evening, and another chance will return Tuesday in Northern Virginia and DC.
The National Weather Service issued a flood watch until 8 p.m. Tuesday for the region, including the District of Columbia, Arlington County, Falls Church, Alexandria and Fairfax County. That means flooding of rivers, creaks, streams, urban areas, poor drainage areas and other flood-prone locations is possible.
In the flood watch area, heavy rainfall on Tuesday creates the potential for more flash flooding. The National Weather Service says heavy rainfall as much as 1.5 to 2 inches is possible.

Forecasters say scattered severe thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon into the early evening around and east of the Interstate 95 corridor. The main threat is damaging wind, but large hail and a tornado cannot be ruled out. Areas along the water should prepare for special marine warnings as well.
Flash flooding had impacts during Monday's severe thunderstorms. In northeast DC, flooding at District Dogs on Rhode Island Avenue NE killed an unknown number of dogs and prompted rescues of seven employees and 20 dogs, NBC Washington reported.
Areas of Arlington and Alexandria also saw flash flooding.
