Mother's Day Brunch in the Del Ray Area
Mother's Day is Sunday, May 12. Where are you taking your mom?

Taking your mother to brunch is, for many, a Mother’s Day tradition. The big day is coming up on Sunday, May 12, so here’s a list of some brunch options for you in and around Del Ray:
• Cheesetique offers brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, featuring some classics from the restaurant as well as some special selections such as oatmeal brulee, ricotta pancakes and a rustic frittata.
• Chez Andree, located on E. Glebe Road for nearly 50 years, serves brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The menu includes several brunch classics like French toast, eggs Benedict and other offerings, including a children’s brunch menu.

• Del Ray Cafe, open for Sunday brunch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., offers organic eggs and omelets and several signature dishes—including crepes, quiche and French toast. Del Ray Cafe is running a series of prize drawings throughout May to celebrate its one-year anniversary.
• Del Ray Pizzeria offers a brunch menu from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday that includes shrimp and grits, egg dishes and a fried chicken and waffle dish with a root beer glaze.

• Evening Star Cafe serves brunch from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, offering a variety of egg dishes, including a crabcake Benedict and duck hash as well as a selection of Chef Jim Jeffords' gourmet breakfast sandwiches.
• Fireflies offers its large brunch menu from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Big Hillbilly Bluegrass will perform beginning at 11 a.m.
• Mama Reacer’s, one of Mount Vernon Avenue’s newest restaurants located in the former Mt. Vernon Deli, offers an all-you-can-eat brunch buffet featuring a variety of home-cooked delights beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday.
• Monroe’s, located at the corner of Commonwealth and Monroe avenues, is serving brunch from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Reservations are recommended.
• Osteria 1909 serves brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The menu includes egg dishes, a breakfast panini sandwich, griddle offerings and the ever-important bottomless Mimosa and Bloody Mary.
• Over on Slaters Lane, Rustico serves brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The menu includes some breakfast staples and a selection of pizzas.
In 2012, Del Ray and Old Town Alexandria Patch readers voted that the brunch at Vermilion is the best Mother’s Day brunch in the area. Vermillion is at 1120 King Street.
