Live Oak Restaurant, the new Del Ray eatery taking the place of Monroe's, is looking at opening in mid-June, one of the owners, Jeremy Barber, recently confirmed. The restaurant, located at 1603 Commonwealth Ave., is also hiring new employees, according to an ad placed this weekend online.
Injured Alexandria Bicyclist Improving
Ryan Brown, the Alexandria cyclist who was seriously injured in a recent crash while riding home from work appears to be improving, according to a recent post from the family, from their YouCaring page. Friends and family are rallying around Ryan Brown, father of two MacArthur students and a resident of the Taylor Run neighborhood.

Bank Robbed Friday in Alexandria; FBI Describes Suspect
A bank was robbed Friday in Alexandria's Del Ray neighborhood, prompting a "lock in" of several schools in the area. The suspect implied he had a weapon, police said. The bank, SunTrust, at 2809 Mt. Vernon Ave., was also robbed last month and a suspect was apprehended.
3 New Cases of Zika Virus Reported This Week in Virginia
Three new cases of the Zika virus have been reported this week in Virginia, the Virginia Department of Health reported Thursday. Of the three new cases, two of those are in the Northern Region health district of Northern Virginia, according to the health department.

Victim Attacked Overnight in Alexandria
The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a "felonious assault" that occurred overnight in the 1200 block of Wythe Street (see map below). The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police sent out an alert about the incident at about 3 a.m. Thursday.
