Pet Owners Can Join Pet Photo Contest To Benefit Animal Welfare League of Alexandria
The AWLA calendar features all the cute pet photos from the community, but only one can be named Alexandria's Animal of the Year.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — With the ways pets brighten our days, they deserve to be in the spotlight. The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is hosting a contest for pets to be featured in its 2024 calendar.
The 2024 Calendar Pet Photo Contest is a fundraiser to benefit the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, which runs the city's animal shelter and provides other animal services. All submitted pet photos will make it into the AWLA calendar, but the winners with the most votes from the public will win special prizes. The fundraiser's goal is $50,000.
Pet owners with all kinds of animals are encouraged to participate, including dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, guinea pigs and more. They do not have to be pets adopted from the AWLA or live in Alexandria.

The grand prize winner will be featured on the front and back cover of the calendar, as well as buses throughout Northern Virginia. This pet will get their own photo session and be invited to AWLA events as "Alexandria's 2024 Animal of the Year."
The next three winners will also get photo sessions and a full-page photo on the month of their choice on the AWLA calendar.

All winners must be able to travel to Alexandria for the prize.
The contest runs from June 1 to 30. Pet photos may be submitted starting June 1. Each entry costs $30 and benefits AWLA.

Participants can join challenges to secure more votes throughout the contest. One of the challenges involves the first 15 entries starting at 8 a.m. on June 1 will get an extra 100 votes.
Voting will be held throughout June to choose the winners. Each vote costs $1 and benefits AWLA.
