Returning Calendar Contest For Pets Benefits Alexandria Animal Shelter
Want your pet featured on a calendar? The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria will benefit from the returning pet photo contest in June.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Pet owners: now is the time to show off your furry friends and scaly sidekicks while supporting Alexandria's animal shelter.
The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria will kick off its annual calendar contest fundraiser at 8 a.m. on Saturday. To participate, submit a photo of your pet and encourage others to vote for your pet. The contest runs through June 30.
All submitted pets will appear in the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria's 2025 calendar, but those with the most votes will get prizes. The top dog — or cat, bird, bonny or other pet — will appear on the front and back cover of the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria calendar plus Metro buses. The grand prize winner also receives a professional photo session and invitations to Animal Welfare League of Alexandria events as the "Alexandria’s 2024 Animal of the Year." Second and third prize winners win a professional photoshoot too.

The first 20 pet photo entries will get 100 bonus votes. The contest is open to all, not just Alexandria residents. Other challenges will be available each week during the contest.
The calendar contest is one of the organization's biggest fundraisers of the year. Entries cost $35, and each vote costs $1. Funds support the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria's animal shelter, adoption services and other services it provides to pet owners and animals in the city.
