Sheriff and Deputy Receive Awards for Service
Deputy Sheriff Bryant Vaughn and Sheriff Dana Lawhorne recognized by Sons of the American Revolution

The George Washington Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution this week recognized Alexandria Deputy Sheriff Bryant Vaughn for his heroism a year ago.
He was recognized for his actions on Dec. 27, 2009, when he was off duty but investigated suspicious activity at a neighbor's home.
A burglary was taking place and the suspects fired at Vaughn during the incident, although they did not hit him.

The chapter also presented Alexandria Sheriff Dana Lawhorne with the Law Enforcement Commemoration Medal for his "energetic leadership and distinguished service" to the City of Alexandria.
Lawhorne said he was honored by the award and was proud to serve with the 219 men and women in the Alexandria Sheriff's Office.
