UPDATE: Thunderstorms Knock Out Power to More Than 300 in Del Ray; Most Restored

Thunderstorms knocked out power to thousands across Northern Virginia Monday night.

UPDATE 6:45 a.m. Tuesday: Power was restored to hundreds overnight in Alexandria after thunderstorms shook the region Monday night.

More than 7,000 homes were without power Monday night in Northern Virginia, including 340 in the Del Ray area of Alexandria.

About a dozen homes in Del Ray were still without power Tuesday morning, according to a Dominion Power outage map.

A Dominion Power outage map showed Monday night that 540 were without power in Alexandria, 340 of those are homes in Del Ray, and 7,246 total were out in Northern Virginia. Here was the breakdown from Monday night at about 10:45 p.m.:

  • Alexandria: 540
  • Arlington: 109
  • Fairfax County: 1,669
  • Fairfax City: 318
  • Fredericksburg: 1,218
  • Loudoun County: 23:
  • Prince William County: 1,527

Temperatures in Alexandria Monday night cooled down to about 76 degrees; highs Tuesday are expected to hit in the mid-90s with "feels like" temperatures over 100 degrees.
