FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 40-year-old Fairfax City woman who told police that someone she knew assaulted her now faces a false report to police charge, according to the City of Fairfax Police.

Officers responded around 2:30 p.m. Saturday to the University Drive and Main Street area for the report of an assault. Melissa Hansen of Fairfax told officers she had been assaulted by an acquaintance following an argument, authorities say.

A short time later, the woman admitted she hadn’t been assaulted, police say. The officers obtained an arrest warrant for false report to police against Hansen. Fairfax County Police served Hansen with the warrant.
