$500K Top Prize Claimed On VA Lottery Ticket Purchase In Fairfax City

A Fairfax City woman won $500,000 playing the Virginia Lottery's Bags of Cash game on a ticket she purchased at a local gas station.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A Fairfax City woman won the $500,000 top prizeon Bags of Cash ticket from the Virginia Lottery she purchased at a gas station in the city recently.

Rozina Bhatti bought the winning ticket when she and her husband visited the NGH Shell located at 11090 Main St.

“I’m so excited. I’m so happy,” Bhatti told lottery officials, when she claimed the prize. She has no immediate plans for her winnings.

When Bhatti purchased her winning ticket, there was still one top prize remaining in the Bags of Cash game, but the final top prize has since been claimed. As such, the scratcher game is now closed, according to lottery officials. The chances of winning the top prize in Bags of Cash were 1 in 612,000.

Proceeds from the Virginia Lottery go to fund K-12 education programs across the state. In the last fiscal year, Fairfax City received more than $487,000 in lottery funds.
