Asst. Principal at Providence Takes the Lead at Daniels Run

Adam Erbrecht will start his new role in July.

After a year as assistant principal at  Adam Erbrecht is moving on. But not far. 

Starting July 2, the Centreville resident will shift his office from Jermantown Road in Fairfax City to Old Lee Highway to start as principal at .

"I became interested in applying for the Daniels Run principalship because of the wonderful family feeling in the City of Fairfax," Erbrecht said. "I also knew the great things that Daniels Run has done with environmental education, foreign language immersion and quality instruction and felt like my skills and interests lined up well with the community of learners there."

Erbrecht began his teaching career in Atlanta. He moved to Fairfax County in 2003 to teach third and fifth graders while working towards his Master's in School Administration from the University of Virginia. Degree in hand, he took on the assistant principal position at Colin Powell Elementary in Centreville before moving on serve alongside Principal Jesse Kraft at Providence.

"The mentoring and professional development that I have received from within those schools and from the larger FCPS support system has supported me in gaining the skills I need to get started," he said.

He sees himself as a team player, eager to listen to other teachers and parents for their thoughts on developing and maintaining a support system for his students. 

"I know that I will continue to be reflective and chief learner as we move forward so that I can continue to grow and develop along with everyone," Erbrecht said. "Most importantly, I will continue to keep a focus on doing what is best for students in every decision and action."

"The City of Fairfax School Board is delighted Adam will stay in the Fairfax pyramid and join the Daniels Run faculty,” said Janice Miller, chairman of the school board. “Adam was highly recommended by his colleagues at both Providence and Colin Powell and brings a high level of experience and enthusiasm to this position. We are particularly pleased he will work to maximize opportunities for our two elementary schools to work together."

He's not the only change in Fairfax City schools leadership. Superintendent Ann Monday announced earlier this year that at the end of this school year. Peter Noonan, former Lanier Middle School principal and assistant superintendent of Instructional Services for Fairfax County Public Schools, will .

"I am grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way and am cognizant of the trust they are placing in me in this new endeavor," Erbrecht said. "I promise to serve the Daniels Run community to meet the needs of our students with the best of my ability."
