Alexa Krezel To Seek Braddock School Board Seat If Vacancy Occurs
Alexa Krezel will run for the Braddock District school board seat if Rachna Sizemore Heizer wins the Dec. 9 special election for supervisor.

FAIRFAX, VA — Alexa Krezel announced on Wednesday that she will be seeking the Braddock District seat on the Fairfax County School Board if current School Board Member Rachna Sizemore Heizer wins the Dec. 9 special election in the three-way Braddock supervisor’s race.
“I’m running to represent Braddock District families and taxpayers because I believe that our schools need practical data-driven policies, that teachers should be able to focus on teaching, and that public schools should prepare students for life, not just the next test,” Krezel said, in a release. “I’m the parent of a FCPS student, and I want the same stability, security, and success for every student that I want for my son.”
Krezel joins small business owner Tom Dannan, who announced his plans last month to enter Braddock school board race if Sizemore Heizer wins.

“Alexa is an independent, strategic thinker,” said McLaughlin, who twice appointed Krezel to the Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee. “She is an effective listener and passionate advocate who will fight to ensure that all students' individual needs are met. She will use her professional background to ensure taxpayer dollars are used efficiently and effectively. Having represented the Braddock District on the Fairfax County School Board for 12 years, I know what it takes to serve constituents, support students and teachers, and stand strong for public education. Alexa is the leader we need now and for the future.”
Krezel has 20 years of experience as a strategic human resources and project management professional at Fortune 500 and Top 50 companies, according to her campaign announcement. If elected, she will focus that experience on finding solutions for her four major priorities:
- Let Teachers Be Teachers: Treat teachers as critical partners in student success by protecting planning time, investing in their growth, advocating for competitive compensation, and removing barriers to innovation.
- Build Pathways for Everyone: Ensure that every student in every school has access to the same opportunities and is ready for the future, regardless of their post-graduation path.
- Ensure Policies are Data-driven, Practical, and Transparent: Develop policies that have clear goals and show evidence of helping students, and provide plain-language explanations to the community.
- Simplify Engagement, Amplify Participation: Help every family stay informed and engaged by meeting families where they are, including encouraging the use of virtual meetings.
“We should have a school system that communicates well, makes smart policies, and relies on useful metrics to track progress,” she said. “We must also keep in mind that we are a school system of great privilege and great need, and that all our students, families, and teachers deserve respect and access to the same opportunities.”
From 2011 to 20203, Krezel was appointed by three different school board members to serve on the Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee. She also served as the president of the Canterbury Woods Elementary Parent Teacher Association from 2020-2021. In addition to being the president of the Woodson Orchestra Boosters, she was appointed to represent the Braddock District on the 2025 School Bond Committee.
