Arlington Man Wanted In MD Arrested As Fugitive From Justice: Police
An Arlington man who failed to appear for a scheduled hearing in Maryland in 2024 was arrested during a Fairfax City traffic stop.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA— A routine traffic stop in Fairfax City on Sunday afternoon resulted in the arrest of 41-year-old Jose Garcia Gandarillas of Arlington, who was wanted on a warrant out of Maryland, according to authorities.
A City of Fairfax Police officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop around 1:43 p.m. near the Fairfax Boulevard and Warwick Avenue intersection, after noticing that the vehicle Garcia Gandarillas was driving had an expired registration.
During the stop, the officer discovered that Garcia Gandarillas was wanted on an active extraditable warrant out of Maryland for failure to appear, according to police.

Garcia Gandarillas was arrested and cited on a felony charge of being a fugitive from justice, according to the incident report. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was given an unsecured bond and released.
Garcia Gandarillas is scheduled to be arraigned in Fairfax County General Court on Thursday and has an extradition hearing set for Aug. 2, according to court records.

On Nov. 28, 2023, a Maryland State trooper issued a traffic citation to Garcia Gandarillas in Annapolis, Maryland for having an expired registration, according to court records.
Garcia Gandarillas failed to appear for his Feb. 7, 2024 hearing in the District Court for Anne Arundel County. Although it was not mandatory for him to appear at the hearing, he was fined $70, according to court records. The next day, the court filed a the felony failure to appear charge against him and suspended his license.
