Caregiver Steals From Resident, 76, In Fairfax City: Police

FAIRFAX, VA — A caregiver was arrested July 19 after stealing from a 76-year-old woman for whom she was working, according to Fairfax Police. Simenesh Haile, 35, of Alexandria, was charged with grand larceny and released on her own recognizance.

Police were alerted to the situation by a family friend of the resident. No information was released about what was stolen but police say the value was in the "thousands of dollars."

Burglary

10407 Fairfax Blvd / Farrish Subaru – On July 20, 2019 management at this location reported a burglary that occurred overnight. Entry was forced into the business through a window. The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.

Attempted Larceny

3900 Block of Oak Street – On July 20, 2019 a homeowner reported that an unknown male subject attempted to steal his son’s bicycle. The male was described as being white, having medium length brown hair and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black shirt with yellow writing on the front and blue or black shorts. The Field Operations Division is investigating.


Larceny

3565 Chain Bridge Road / Residence Inn Marriot – On July 21, 2019 a patron of the hotel reported that his rental vehicle was broken into overnight. The vehicle had a window smashed out and items removed from it. The Field Operations Division is investigating.


Vandalism

Fairfax Boulevard / Plantation Parkway – On July 21, 2019 a CUE bus driver reported that the bus stop at this location was vandalized. One of the glass sides of the enclosure was broken by an unknown subject. The Field Operations Division is investigating.
