Cause Of 2nd Kings Park West Fire Determined
The Fairfax County Fire Marshal released the cause and extent of damage from Monday's house fire in Kings Park West.

FAIRFAX, VA — Improperly discarded smoking materials were being blamed for starting a fire that caused an estimated $108,000 in damage to a Kings Park West home late Monday afternoon, according to the fire marshal. This came three days after fire personnel extinguished a fatal two-alarm fire in the same neighborhood.
Fairfax County fire and rescue units responded around 5:15 p.m., on Monday, to the 4700 block of Twinbrook for the report of a house fire. When they arrived on the scene, fire personnel observed smoke and fire coming from the rear of the home, according to the incident report. Crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control and extinguish it. No injuries were reported.
The home was undergoing renovations and no one was inside when the fire began, according to FCFRD. A neighbor who spotted the fire called 911.
