Though voter turnout may have been low, the ones who showed up did so because of a sense of civic duty.

"It's my absolute obligation and duty whenever I have the chance to vote," said Ann Landy, who cast her ballot at Oakton High School on Tuesday afternoon. I look at the atmosphere, the anxiety, the anger, and I just think you can only complain so much without voting."

Or as voter Nancy Yinger put it: "I vote so I can complain. If you don't vote, you abdicate the right to complain."
