Fairfax City PD Reminds Drivers Speed Enforcement Cameras Coming Soon
The cameras have been installed to protect students near six schools along Old Lee Highway, Fairfax Boulevard and Jermantown Road.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — With the first day of school right around the corner for many Virginia students, Fairfax City police are reminding drivers that speed enforcement cameras will be operational starting Aug. 22.
That date will coincide with the opening of the 2022-2023 school year, police said.
"Please watch for the flashing lights, reduce your speed and keep an eye out for pedestrians, crossing guards and work crews!" the police department tweeted Monday.

Cameras are installed to protect students near six schools along Old Lee Highway, Fairfax Boulevard and Jermantown Road:
- Daniels Run Elementary School
- Fairfax High School
- Frost Middle School
- Katherine Johnson Middle School
- Providence Elementary School
- Woodson High School
Fairfax City officials said portable cameras are also available to enforce reduced speed limits in highway work zones to protect city work crews and contractors working in the right of way.
