Fairfax Fire Department Keeps FHS Marching Lions Cool During Band Camp Tradition
Fairfax tradition cools off the Marching Lions as they prepare to debut their 2025 show, Liquid Gold, on August 28.
The City of Fairfax Fire Department brought big smiles to the Fairfax High School Marching Lions today, keeping a decades-long tradition alive by spraying the hard-working band down with water from a fire truck. It was a much-needed cooldown during the hot summer days and a well-earned reward for their hard work.
The Marching Lions are now in week two of their three-week band camp, spending hours each day in the heat learning music, perfecting drill formations, and preparing for the upcoming season. The sudden burst of water sent cheers echoing across the field, giving the students a refreshing break before diving back into practice.
“This tradition means so much to our students,” said Joe Jost, President of the Fairfax High School Band Boosters. “We’re grateful to the City of Fairfax Fire Department for taking the time to come out every summer and support the band in such a fun and memorable way.”
