Fairfax Man Killed In 2-Vehicle Crash In Fair Oaks: Police

A 69-year-old Fairfax man died from injuries he suffered in a two-vehicle crash in the Fair Oaks area on Friday afternoon, police say.

FAIR OAKS, VA — A 69-year-old Fairfax man died from injuries he suffered during a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Fair Oaks, according to Fairfax County Police.

Officers were called to the crash at Monument Drive and Fairfax County Parkway around 1:22 p.m. Investigators say that Stephen Rhodes of Fairfax suffered life-threatening injuries when the 2012 Honda Accord he was driving was struck by a 2024 Hyundai Tucson.

Heading eastbound on Monument Drive, the driver of the Tucson drove through a red signal before it struck Rhodes’ car, according to police. Rhodes was taken to a nearby hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, although detectives are still working to determine if speed was a factor, according to the incident report.
