Fairfax Students Receive Providence Chapter DAR Awards

Nineteen local students were awarded with special honors from a DAR chapter in the area.

The Providence Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently announced its 2013 award recipients.

The DAR Youth Citizenship Medal is presented to fifth- and sixth-grade students who fulfill the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism, according to a press release issued by the Providence Chapter. The Outstanding Work in American History Medal is presented to students in any grade for excellence in American history studies.

The following students from Fairfax area schools received the DAR Youth Citizenship Medal:

Brett Morrow and Anthu Cung (Oak View Elementary)

Joshua Sawin and Dylan Syron (Fairview Elementary)

Sonia Chaudhary and Ian Drummond (Greenbriar East Elementary)

Each local DAR chapter is assigned schools to contact regarding DAR awards.  Providence Chapter is responsible for the schools in the Chantilly and Robinson pyramids. The schools listed are the ones that chose to participate in these DAR award programs this year.
