Fatal Pedestrian Crash Leads To Charge Against Driver: FCPD

OAKTON, VA — Fairfax County Police detectives charged a 72-year-old Maryland man in connection to the Sept. 21 fatal crash in Oakton that killed 81-year-old Choon Kook of Vienna.

On Sunday, FCPD issued a summons to Walter Bozarth for failure to yield to a pedestrian, according to police. He was then released.

Investigators from FCPD’s Crash Reconstruction Unit determined that Bozarth was making a turn into a shopping center from westbound Hunter Mill when he struck Kook, who was in the crosswalk. Police said that there was no pedestrian signal at the crossing.
