Here are the top three stories today in Fairfax City:

  1. The Fairfax County Police Department is investigating a murder-suicide after an elderly couple was found dead in a home on the 8900 block of Walker Street in Fairfax on Feb. 28. Police believe Janos John Gertler, 86, shot his wife, 73-year-old Eva Anna Vas, and then shot himself. (Fairfax Patch)
  2. On Mar. 1, a Fairfax fentanyl peddler, 50-year-old Calvin Ray Brown, plead guilty to conspiracy to sell at least 900 grams of illegal drugs. Between March and April 2022, Brown and a co-conspirator sold counterfeit pills containing fentanyl multiple times to an undercover detective and a Fairfax County Police Department confidential source. Brown, who faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum of life imprisonment, will be sentenced on Jun. 26. (FOX 5 DC)
  3. The Louise Archer School, the Tinner Hill neighborhood, Clifton Primitive Baptist Church, and other locations in Fairfax County are eligible to be designated as historic places. Any sites linked to African American history in the county appear in a draft of the "African American Historic Resources Survey Report" that was released on Feb. 23. The county is asking residents to share feedback and their thoughts on the report on Friday, Mar. 24 or at a virtual community meeting on the report’s findings on Mar. 6. (Tysons Reporter)
