UPDATE: Chain Bridge Road Reopens After Gas Leak

Northbound and southbound was closed between Fairfax Boulevard and Eaton Place

Update: The road has reopened and the detour has been lifted, according to an alert sent by the City of Fairfax.

Original: A gas leak has closed Chain Bridge Road in both directions Friday morning.

The road is closed between Fairfax Boulevard and Eaton Place until further notice, according to an alert sent by the City of Fairfax.

It's not clear what caused the gas leak, nor when the road will be opened.

A detour is being set up for drivers, according to the by the City of Fairfax alert.
