Get Out: Pig Roast, Poker Ride, Appalachian Band

What to do this weekend.

There's plenty of activities in our area this weekend for everyone. Here's a few ideas:

1. Celebrate Fairfax Festival

Where/When: 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax/Friday, June 10-Sunday, June 12

Why Go: Enjoy live concerts, carnival rides, a petting zoo, karaoke contest, and great festival food this weekend. There is something for everyone at Northern Virginia’s largest community-wide celebration.

Price: Tickets start at $7 online, $12 at the gate

2. Pig Roast

Where/When: Fairfax Christian Church, Saturday 4 p.m.

Why Go: Say hello to summer with delicious food and fun for the family. Event includes activities for the kids.

Pricing: Suggested donation is $12 per person.

 

3. Braddock Nights

Where/When: Royal Lake Park, 5344 Gainsborough Drive, Fairfax/Friday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: Andrew McKnight & Beyond Boarders is an Appalachian/blues/folk group that will appeal to music lovers of all ages.

Pricing: Free

 

4.Van Dyck Park Walking Group

Where/When: Van Dyck Park, Saturday 9-10 a.m.

Why Go: Make a commitment to slim down and get fit for the summer. Losing weight is easier with others to help push you along. The group meets every Saturday, same place, same time.

Pricing: Event is free but registration is suggested. Early registrants will receive a free gift.

 

5. Ride for the House Poker Run

Where/When: Patriot Harley Davidson, Saturday 8 a.m.

Why Go: Motorcycle riders will join together for the Ride for the House Poker Run sponsored by Patriot Harley Davidson. All entry fees and donations will help support Fisher House, which builds “comfort houses” on the grounds of major military and VA medical facilities to house the loved ones of soldiers being treated at the facility.

Riders will travel to several stops on the route to pick up cards to add to their poker hand. At the end of the ride, the rider with the best poker hand wins. The grand prize winner receives prizes from Patriot Harley Davidson plus tickets and VIP parking to the Def Leppard/Heart show at Jiffy Lube Live on July 9th.

Pricing: The entry fee is a suggested $20 donation which gives the rider a poker hand.
