Girls Basketball: Paul VI Claims 7th Straight Championship

Two of the team's members, seniors Marlena Tremba and Kasey Curtis, plan to play basketball at William and Mary.

Paul VI Catholic High School's girls basketball team finished its season Saturday with their seventh consecutive Division I State Championship, defeating Liberty Christian 73-53 to earn the title.

The Panthers, ranked No. 1 in the tournament and at one point this season ranked No. 6 nationally by USA Today, set a school record for most wins in a season this year, finishing at 29-4.

They were also undefeated at 23-0 in the regular season.

Two of the team's members, seniors Marlena Tremba and Kasey Curtis, plan to play basketball at the collegiate level. And they'll stay teammates in Virginia too, too, as Patch has reported: They both signed at William & Mary.
