Great Clips, Woodson PTSO Team-Up For Week-Long Fundraising Event

FAIRFAX, VA — The Woodson High School Parent-Teacher-Student Organization is partnering with the Great Clips hair salon in Fairfax City's Turnpike Shopping Center to raise money for the PTSO’s 2024-2025 grant program.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Great Clips for a fundraiser this year,” said PTSO President Sara Mastro. “A well-funded grant program enables us to support numerous deserving initiatives that benefit our entire school community.”

Great Clips recently reopened its Fairfax City location just around the corner from Woodson High at 3989 Pickett Road. Great Clips will donate $2,000 to the PTSO's grant program if it meets the goal of having 425 customers visit the salon in one week.

To reach that goal, the Woodson PTSO invites supporters to visit Great Clips from Saturday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 27. Supporters don't necessarily need to get any particular service. They might just pop in and buy some of the products the salon offers for sale.

To help raise awareness of the grant program, Great Clips will display QR codes and PTSO literature throughout the salon during the fundraising week.

During the 2023-2024 school year, PTSO’s grant funding contributed to several valuable additions, including:

• Three new microwaves for the high school cafeteria
• A new Cavalier Mascot costume for sports events
• Stand-up desks for computer project presentations
• Fees for a motivational speaker
• Robotics Club Competition Fees
• Model UN Club - Travel
• Model Judiciary - Travel
• International Night Costumes
• Breakfast Club funding
• Orchestra instrument cases
• TV repairs
• Water bottle refilling stations
