Gretchen Bulova Defeats Adam Wise In HOD Special Election: Precinct Numbers

FAIRFAX, VA — As unofficial results started to roll in Tuesday night in the 11th District House of Delegates race, Democrat Gretchen M. Bulova built a commanding lead over Republican Adam J. Wise, garnering about 70 percent of the votes in the special election.

By 8:30 p.m., all 21 precincts in Fairfax City and Fairfax County had reported their unofficial vote totals, according to the Virginia Department of Elections. Bulova claimed victory, receiving 5,599 votes (68.79 percent) compared to the 2,508 (30.81 percent) garnered by Wise.

In addition, Bulova nearly all 21 precincts by a 60-70 percent margin. The one exception is the Island Pond precinct with the Oakmont Recreation Center as its polling location. Bulova still won, but with a thinner margin, garnering 18 votes (52.94 percent) to the 16 (47.06 percent) Wise received.

Bulova succeeds her husband, David Bulova, who stepped down to become incoming Gov. Abigail Spanberger's nominee as the next secretary of natural and historic resources. The new governor will be sworn in Saturday during a ceremony in Richmond.

The 11th District covers all of Fairfax City and parts of Fairfax County, including Fair Oaks and Oakton. The non-profit Virginia Public Information Project describes the district as "Strong Democratic."

Bulova will have to move quickly, because the 2026 Virginia General Assembly legislative session begins on Wednesday.
