Guide to Attending Fairfax High School's Anniversary Celebrations

Planning to go to Fairfax High School's homecoming and 75th anniversary shindig this afternoon? See below for schedule and traffic information.

Schedule:

  • 4-5 p.m.: Homecoming parade. Shuttles start free service from FHS to Van Dyck Park at 3:30. All participants need to assemble at 4 for a 4:15 start. The parade will march from the park to the school.
  • 4:30-6:30 p.m. - Rebel spirit tailgate.
  • 5-6:30 p.m. - Check in for a tour of the newly renovated school. Access at entrance No. 1.
  • 6:45 p.m. - Pre-game activities.
  • 7 p.m. - Homecoming game kick-off. Watch as FHS (hopefully) wipes the turf with Langley.
  • 9 p.m. - Post-game festivities and fireworks in FHS stadium.
  • 9:30-11 p.m. - Reception at Army-Navy Country Club. Yes, there's a cash bar!
Park in the FHS parking lot to take advantage of free shuttle service to the start of the parade route.

Traffic alerts:

  • Traffic delays will begin just before the start of the parade and will last until after the parade ends. Consider alternate routes.
  • Southbound Old Lee Highway traffic will be closed at Rebel Run during the parade.
  • Northbound Old Lee Highway traffic will be held behind the parade.
  • Side streets along the road will be closed during the parade and will be opened as the parade passes.
