Heat Advisory: High 90s Today, CODE ORANGE Air
Keep a close watch on the young and old.

Stay hydrated and indoors to beat the heat. The National Weather Service forecasts 90-degree weather and poor air quality lasting into the evening.
NWS' heat advisory has been in effect since noon yesterday. Temperatures are expected to reach the low- to mid-90s. Tomorrow won't be any better. Prepare for mid- to high-90 degree weather lasting until 8 p.m. Tuesday. NWS predicts heat index values of 100-105.
The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments issued a code orange air quality alert Tuesday for the DC Metro Area.
Code orange air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups like children, asthma sufferers, people with heart disease or other lung diseases and the elderly.
