The season of giving is here. The simple act of donating food and supplies to those in need can make an impact on someone’s life.
The Providence, a brand-new assisted living and memory care community in Fairfax’s MetroWest neighborhood, is hosting a food and supply drive to benefit Britepaths from October 20th through November 19th.

Britepaths is a local non-profit that has been helping Northern Virginia residents experiencing poverty or crisis since 1984. According to the organization’s website, Britepaths serves more than 7,000 households in Fairfax County.
Next time you’re at the grocery store or stocking up on supplies from Amazon, consider adding a few extras from the below list to your cart. To drop off items, swing by The Providence at 9490 Sprague Avenue, Fairfax, VA 22031.

ITEMS NEEDED
Food
- Cereal (healthy types with less sugar, please!)
- Cooking oil
- Jam/jelly
- Pancake mix/syrup
- Rice
- Snacks: healthy foods such as crackers, pretzels, popcorn and granola/cereal bars
NOTE: Britepaths cannot use items that have been opened, cans that are dented or any food that is past its expiration date.
Household/Hygiene Items
- Toilet paper
- Paper towels
- Laundry detergent (liquid or pods)
- All-purpose cleaners, Windex, toilet bowl cleaner, Clorox wipes
- Sponges/cleaning supplies
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Body wash and bar soap
- Deodorant
Ongoing Needs
- Pasta and pasta sauce
- Parmesan cheese (shelf-stable)
- Fruit cups in 100% juice
- Dried/canned beans
- Peanut butter
- Oatmeal in canisters
- Toothpaste/toothbrushes
- Razors
NOTE: For hygiene products and toiletries, full-size (versus travel size) products are preferred.
Baby Items
- Diapers size 5 and 6, and Pull-Ups sizes 3T-4T and 4T-5T
- Baby wipes
- Baby shampoo
- Baby lotion
