During a news conference Wednesday, Fairfax City Police Capt. Jeff Hunt described Danehower as an acquaintance of the family. NBC 4 said the Glyers and Danehower also attended The Falls Church Anglican church together.
"There is no reason to believe he [Danehower] was colluding with anyone, and we believe he acted alone," Hunt said.
Police said it was a tip that ultimately led them to arrest Danehower at Dulles Airport where he worked at FedEx.

Four days after the shooting, Danehower was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and held without bond, police said.
According to WTOP, handwritten on the bail form, the magistrate wrote: “After the bail hearing, the defendant [Danehower] asked, ‘Can I order a pizza.’ He was not taking the situation seriously in the slightest.”
Glyer's wife, Heather, issued a statement to WUSA following Danehower's arrest.
"Gret was my best friend and an incredible husband and father. He had an amazing heart for helping the people who need it most, and I know that legacy will live on," a portion of the statement reads. "I know that God is with me and has a plan for my life and for the lives of our children."
DonorSee's Interim CEO, Owen O'Doherty, also released a statement after the arrest:
Gret Glyer dreamed of a world without extreme poverty. Through his years of humble persistence and inspirational leadership, he did more to move humanity toward that goal than most people possible.
We are saddened beyond words by his tragic, untimely passing. Our hearts are especially with his wife, Heather, and his two children. We know that he would have wanted us to carry on the visionary work he started, and we will do so with special determination.
We encourage those who are inspired by his life story to donate in his honor to The Humanity Fund which was launched just over one week ago. The fund is designed to lift the poorest 10% of humanity out of extreme poverty through projects on the DonorSee platform.
Gret said when he launched the fun that "the key to ending one of the world's biggest tragedies is happiness." We will move forward by embodying this same hope and happiness that Gret spread throughout the world.
