Man Dies After Alleged Road Rage Incident in Fairfax City

Police are unsure if the man's death is related to an alleged road rage assault or a pre-existing condition. An autopsy is pending.

An autopsy is pending on a man who died 10 days after allegedly being assaulted in a road rage incident in Fairfax City.

According to police reports, the victim — whose identity is not being released at this time — called Fairfax City Police at 11:20 a.m. April 16 to say he had been walking from his car at the Best Buy on Main Street when another man walked up to him and assaulted him.

The alleged assailant then left in his vehicle, the victim reported. Paramedics were called and the victim was taken to the hospital.

The 63-year-old victim, a Fairfax City man, was treated at a local hospital. He  died Friday, police said.

Fairfax City Police have since arrested Librado Cena, 57, a Fairfax man, in connection with the assault.

Police said the victim had a pre-existing condition so it is unclear at this time if his death is a result of that condition, or was caused by the assault.

Police say more information will be available about the victim and the status of charges against Cena following the victim's autopsy.
