MD Man With Knife Makes Threats At Fairfax City Business: Police
A Maryland man who made threats with a knife at Fairfax City convenience store is facing an assault charge, according to police.
FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 65-year-old Maryland man is facing an assault charge after he threatened someone at a Fairfax City convenience store with a knife on Thursday morning, according to authorities.
Officers responded around 7:43 a.m. for the report of a disorderly person at the 7-Eleven at 3910 University Drive. The person who contact police told the officers that a man threatened to kill them, showed that he had a knife, and then fled., according to the incident report.
The officers located a man nearby that they identified as a suspect in the case and took him into custody. Arresting Calvin Craney of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, the officers to him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged him with misdemeanor assault, according to police.

Craney's preliminary hearing was scheduled for at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 26, 2026 in Fairfax City General District Court, according to court documents. He was released on an unsecured bond.
On Oct. 21, Fairfax County police arrested Craney without warrant, because he was wanted in Charles County, Maryland on second-degree assault and malicious destruction of property valued at more than $1,000 charges, according to court records.

On Oct. 12, Judge Brandon Johnson issued the arrest warrant, which Fairfax County police served Craney with on Oct. 21, according to court documents.
On Oct. 31, Craney appeared in the District Court for Charles County for a bond hearing and was released on his own recognizance, court records say. His trial was scheduled for 9 a.m. on Dec. 16.
