Here's What's Open And Closed Around Fairfax City On Memorial Day
As we remember U.S. military personnel on Memorial Day, various facilities and services will be closed or modified for the holiday.
FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Memorial Day weekend serves as a kickoff to the summer season and a time to reflect on American military service members who have died during their service.

Fairfax City government offices: Closed on Monday, May 26.
Fairfax County government offices: Closed on May 26.

Fairfax County Public Schools: Closed on May 26.
Courts: Fairfax County General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, and Circuit Court will be closed on May 26.
Department of Motor Vehicles: DMV offices are closed on May 26, and some services are available online at dmv.virginia.gov; DMV Select at Fairfax City Hall is also closed.
Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center: Open on Monday, May 26.
CUE Bus: Operates on a Saturday schedule on Memorial Day.
Fairfax Connector: Fairfax Connector will run on a Sunday schedule on May 26. The only routes that operate on Sundays are 101, 109, 151, 152, 161, 162, 171, 310, 321, 322, 371, 401, 402, 423, 463, 467, 558, 559, 574, 605, 615, 630, 642, 651, 662, 672, 721, 803, 901, 921, 924, 937, 950, 952, 954, 983, RIBS 1, RIBS 2, RIBS 3, RIBS 4 and RIBS 5.
Libraries: All Fairfax County Public Library locations are closed on May 26.
Metro: Monday Metrorail hours are 7 a.m. to midnight. On the Orange Line, free shuttle buses replace trains between Eastern Market and Cheverly. The Deanwood, Minnesota Ave, Stadium-Armory, and Potomac Ave stations are closed. On the Silver and Blue Lines, free shuttle buses replace trains between Eastern Market and Addison Road. The Potomac Ave, Stadium-Armory, Benning Road, and Capitol Heights stations are closed. Riders should use Silver or Orange line trains to continue traveling east of Federal Center SW. Fairfax County Office of Elections: Closed on May 26.
Park authority: Recreation centers in Fairfax County will be open from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 26, except George Washington Rec Center, which will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Colvin Run Mill and Sully Historic Site will be closed. The Lake Fairfax Visitor Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the marina will be open until 6 p.m. Riverbend Park's visitor center will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Frying Pan Farm Park will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Post offices: Closed on May 26.
Trash and recycling (Fairfax City): Monday and Tuesday refuse and recycling routes are collected on Tuesday, May 27. Collecting multiple days' worth of debris (yard waste, brush, metals, etc.) on a single day may cause atypical delays in collection throughout the city. Trash and recycling (Fairfax County): Customers will have regular collections on May 26. Residents with private service should contact their hauler for any changes. The I-66 Transfer Station and the I-95 Landfill Complex will be open on May 26.
